Our History
2009 Brookwood Pharmaceuticals becomes SurModics Pharmaceuticals. SurModics Pharmaceuticals introduces Lakeshore BiomaterialsTM brand polymer into its product line.
2007 SurModics acquires Brookwood Pharmaceuticals: Strengthens portfolio of drug delivery technologies for the pharmaceutical industry.
2006 Expand product offering to custom biomaterial production.
2005 Lakeshore Biomaterials is launched as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brookwood Pharmaceuticals in Birmingham, Alabama.
2004 Brookwood Pharmaceuticals acquires Alkermes’ external Medisorb® Polymer Business. A technical transfer plan was completed to ensure our customer’s products were not affected in any way.
1996 Alkermes Controlled Therapeutics Inc. II, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alkermes, Inc., acquires substantially all of the assets of Medisorb Technologies International LP—and all of its manufacturing facilities. Commercial production of polymers for external customers continues.
1988 Stolle Research & Development Corporation forms a joint venture with DuPont Co. that is renamed Medisorb Technologies International LP, and takes on marketing of the polymer.
1986 Polymer manufacturing commences at Stolle Research & Development Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio. DuPont markets these polymers under the Medisorb Polymer brand name.
